After work today I planned a surf with Caitlin, but when she didn't arrive home from school by 3.30 I bailed and set off for a solo down south. I made the mistake of stopping by Blackhead with the camera, and therein 2 hours was absorbed on the beach.. waiting, in good company watching, and waiting for the light... which was well worth it when the sun peaked through the cloud cover near sunset.
Below: Blackhead hasn't escaped erosion either..

Phoam, you just get better and better, I especially like the lineup and broken board guy type shots.
Poetry on film!
Hey Nic,
You will be producing a NZ Southern Surf Calender - Yes????
Nic Reeves - Master of the moment!!
Q. Why is the erosion at Blackhead less severe and probably naturally reversible compared to the erosion at Middle Beach?
thanks all :0)
my pics seem to be coming together the last few weeks.. for some reason
I had toyed with the idea of doing a calendar.. but for the life of me I couldn't think which 6/12 to use!
I'd be keen to put one together if it was a selection of "readers favorites" .. might be quite fun.. what do you think?
Last shot caption: "Bugger!"
Beautiful Nic, as usual. Blackhead was on yesterday.
to answer:: "Q. Why is the erosion at Blackhead less severe and probably naturally reversible compared to the erosion at Middle Beach?"
I am not qualified to answer that really, but guesses would be directional orientation of land compared to Middles, the fact that its right next to a headland at blackhead, whereas middles is middle ish :0) and there are man made structures influencing the wave energy at St Clair middles and the pipe at St Kilda??
