picking up again ...

got some shore shots this morning from under the wall.. heres one..

and then after I picked up caity from school we headed down to St Clair, me with the video camera, and her armed with my olympus. We both had a great time shooting away with about 16 out as the swell picked up markedly. Loaded here are some shots that caitlin took with my camera, and like she did with the blackhead shots a few months ago.. she proved that she sure has some skills!!!

Up at 6am this morning to make sushi for my daughters shared school lunch today, then dropped her off to school with her precious load and stash of wasabi to secretly shovel inside choice pieces of sushi on her unsuspecting schoolmates ( mainly the boys). So a quick hop around to St Clair and a walk around to Seconds to catch some early morning shots of the new swell pumping through, hopefully it will clean up a bit this avo.. and provide some joy :0)

:: VID :: One small day at the View

Seems good surf is hard to come by around Dunedin this week. I made a few trips to St Clair, and nothing much happening.. also in passing Blackhead.. a few out yesterday, but by the time I got time off to take some pics, it was raining. Went out down south a bit with jay and daughter Caity and they had a play in the waves for an hour or so, but as the light faded a cold front swept through. So it leaves me no other choice than to load another mini surf vid to my blog :o)

Where have I been??

my new (3 month old) computer died last week, so I ran away from home.
Prognosis is that its away to acer repair for 2-3 weeks to get 'fixed' or replaced, the bummer is that I lost alot of my images and many weeks of hard work since my last backup. We learn lessons the hard way. So now on a noisy loan machine I have recovered most of my passwords loaded a few of my favourite programmes on it, and I am away again.. the awesome news for me is that the loan computer recognises the DV Cam so I have been capturing footage from that from the last few weeks.. more mini surf vids to come over the next few weeks!
So last week during my hiatis from my computer/blog I whipped up to Christchurch to pick up my new canopus DVstorm pro2 video capture card!! and met up with a few regs on the surf.co forum and we went for a day trip up to Kaikoura..

PART 1
left Dunedin Thursday lunchtime.. got to Timaru at Dusk.
Stayed in a backpackers overnight and got up early next morning to catch the sunrise down the line a bit
After a lazy morn shopping in timaru I headed up to CHCH

Next day was the trip up to Kaiks... the journey took us to Mungamanu first.
part 2 - to come..

Around St Clair today.

Picked up one of my girls from school today, she is doing photography HS full year, and got a loan of one of the school cameras, an old minolta. She has chosen her term project to be none other than.. Surf photography, but incorporating it into styles of the 'photography masters' (whomever they are). So was great to walk around the esplanade and beach with her and take shots of what I havent been photographing, because its all been done to death before. But anyway a few shots I got below.

The Hydro and the Shark Bell.

going straight for 24 hours so far

Yesterday I was the guinea pig. My daughter was doing her hairdressing course at polytech, needed a practice model . and she straightened my hair!!!! wow, I have had a whole day of for the first time on living memory being able to run my fingers through my hair without snagging on a hidden tumbleweed or something. wow wow wow, and I know you're totally not interested in this incredible feat, but some little things in life can just totally change your perspective. Tonight I am grateful for the gift of straight hair, until I wash it :0)
I am grateful for my three beautiful children, and my heater.... mmm peanut butter on vogels... broadband and my floydalicious.
What are you grateful for?
