Karitane Surf Festival - 4th March

Early start for me and caitlin, driving up the line to back beach Karitane for the annual Karitane Surf Comp, which is also a ladder event for South Coast Boardriders. Arrived to find an extremely well organised and laid out venue.. the waves were pretty small throughout the day.. everyone surfed well to the conditions.. congrats to all who took part.

Caitlin registered for her events then we set up down the beach with the deck chairs, camera gear and thermus. Thanks heaps to Glenn for taking the time to explain to Caitlin the ins and outs of the flags and timing, she was rapt :0)
First two shots pretty much sums up the first few heats, with low grey cloud, tide and mini dumpers...



I really didn't keep up with what heat was what but the boys started out first, above. Then the open mens:


and then the womens open semis, a few shots below:


So then out came the styles of the longboard semis :0) and the judges tent, whom I heard were very well fed and pampered by the organisers.



Under 14 girls final was next up::
and the miracle occured.. THE SUN CAME OUT!!

been on the beach taking pics for 6 hours, and now three hours doing pics and post, so results tomorrow and prizegiving pics etc. because I don't actually know the results properly, if you see this Lianne can you email them through?
