digger fiddling

A quick pop down to see how the half million dollar sand buffer was holding up..
there was quite a chunk out.. and a steep scarp which a digger was smoothing off.

Consultants Report to Council:

"The seawall performed as designed and end wall effect was as expected, however, there is now clearly a case to extend the wall to mitigate risk in the unlikely event of a storm of this severity occuring again before the next 100 year cycle. We recommned Council extends the seawall by at least 1km and, Council plans to extend the wall by 1km each time we have a severe storm".

Consultants Report to Council:

We wish to reiterate that as Consultants to Council we have no liability whatsoever for costs associated with emergency works to protect Council and or public assets at Middle beach even though there is public opinion that we were negligent in not anticipating the end wall effect in our design of the wall as this damage to the coast was clearly due to circumstances which were not foreseeable (abit like the failure of the steps). We would like to reassure Council and the public the the sea wall itself (apart from the steps and the ends and maybe the vertical face) was designed to appropriate engineering standards and any failure and associated loss will be purely accidental and an act of god.
