More sea wall foam-fireworks below. Chronic today.. and firing all the way along the wall past the disabled ramp .. on occasion there was a massive BANG like a steel pipe hitting a hollow pole hmm sounds like some structural issues.

Also below from this morning at 9am ish, the tide was real low and revealed the extent to which the sand has been washed out from the consistent high tides and wall bashing.

Still high at St Clair

Full moon affecting the tides still, and very high at St Clair.
Sea wall 'foam fireworks' display again ...
I did take some sequences the other day of the seawall bashing, and tried to paste them together in animation shop on the old computer, but when uploaded to photobucket the last three frames came out with black spots through them.. just got some expert advice on my fopah with the animation, and thanks to my awesome sis, here it is...

Pretty easy to see how that set of steps got taken out.



However today lots of surfers out back playing amoungst the shifting peaks.

floyd got his hay

Again the sea wall got a beating today, fun thing of it was watching all the joy it gave the young kids, and the old ones.

Went up to Wakouaiti to get some bales of hay for Floyd who was a happy cavy to finally get some fresh nibbles. Also got a few shots at Matakana.

North East South Swell

Down the south coast , but not quite lining up on the banks to warrant going out.

Got to St Clair, big cleaninsh turned to big mess as southerly churned through later in the afternoon.

Out of Dunedin finally

Cruisy day having escaped Dunnos and driven north, snow on the hills, drizzle on and off
(stupid $260 rain cape was useless, ditched that for a 10c plastic bag.)
Too many words last post, so this is 1000 words in pictures.

I believe this is going to be the first post I have made that is not supported by pictures of surfing. I do not intend to bore you if you have come here for a visual perve though. But I do have some thoughts.
Firstly I have always relied on my images to portray some kind representaion of my passion for surfing and the surf lifestyle. My writings have been sparse about my feelings and knowledge, which I admit is limited. I guess I have been hoping that my images will represent how passionate I am. I am a local here in Dunedin, having been born here and my family lineage going back many generations. But I am a relative 'newbie' to the surfing core community here in Dunedin. I have met so far some totally honest and dedicated down-to-earth people, and I am always honoured when they approach me and talk to me about where they are at, and what they are doing. In particular I totally admire the few female surfers who get out there day after day and surf hours upon hours in the freezing temperates.. go Nikki, Tash and Hayley you totally rock.
I really cant explain the draw I have to document the daily surf happenings around dunedin, but to say it is the deepest desire to capture the essence of the core vibe on my doorstep.

Like most things unexplainable I really have nothing else to say, but to express my admiration for all whom frequent these awesome surf spots we have here, and say from my heart how grateful i am to be in the position to do what I do from passion...

the long and the short

Right, St Kilda for lunch - nobody out .. nice big 5ft clean peeling sets coming through out back with hollow 2ft reforms on the inside.

Below is the view from St Kilda over to St Clair, with the Hot Salt Water Pool complex then to Seconds beach at left.


Then A couple of montages of longboarding and shortboarding below here at St Clair this avo at around 1-2pm with a kayaker.

My daughter Caitlin decided to brave the winter water temps, and have a wee surf too, but only lasted 20 mins due to frozen fingers.. now she wants some gloves.

Back at St Clair in the avo, I went to put some of my cards in the Classic cafe, and yay I have sold a paintng already! Going to go down and put a few more up after I do this post.

the first of july

Been incredibly busy doing lots a stuff, and getting it all done, which is good, so haven't been out taking pics, I guess i have had my fair fill during the earlier part of the week. So just a few from St Clair late this avo around 5pm, sun was past the horizon, and my camera was stretching for some light to make out 8 out surfing some nice clean peaks.
