Just a few shots from yesterday afternoons sunset.. about 5pm. Almost up to the shortest day of the year, but three more months of the cold southern winter.. looking forward to the warm-up of spring.
I have been working hard this weekend fuming myself out with adhesive sprays and varnish sealers.. got a buzzy headache. yay. can't open a window for ventillation or it gets too cold and nothing dries.. reminder to self... don't commit to exhibitions and developing new products during the depths of winter.

Blackhead from Tomahawk
A trip over to Tomahawk where I took a shot over to Blackhead.
If you look closely you can see on the backside of the blackhead land prominence where the Blackhead quarry extracts the gravel.. also a few of the cliff features which scatter from the Head at Forbury to Blackhead ( Tunnel Beach area).
Look at those gorgeous rights peeling past lawyers head into Tomahawk beach, pity it has poo and scummage all through it!

Strong Offshore
Lunch today at St Clair, which served up a very strong offshore wind.. So many less in the water now the temps are dropping .. and I bet the wind chill today was a major factor too.
So a few shots of St Clair including a peek at the 'construction' work going on on the South Steps, more strengthening?
Then a trip over to St Kilda, with one pic from JWD

descent to darkness
Very high tide this arvo at around 4.30pm, powerful sets pumping throguh and hitting the sea wall with a massive thunk shaking the ground, spray reaching up to third storey height!.. this was ALL the way along the new sea wall, not only just the south end. 5 out ... and as the light faded and went through the ends of the 'setting sun' colour gamut I selected a few shots with a wee tweak from the digital darkroom to reflect this descent to darkness.. .

Blackhead at Sunset
Manic painting sessions the last few days, so no surf shots happening. But drove through Blackhead around 4.30pm, dropping my girls off to their nanas for a feed and caught the setting sun brushing the foam with a vivid glow, still pretty stormy at high tide but a few semi discernable peelers... also a cool shot ( I thought) of the last light on the powerlines there.

twas a Grey day
Out at St Clair around before lunch today.. looked okay with some steady sets coming through when I got there, but after 20 mins inconsistency prevailed, and I left for home with what I thought were no good shots because the light was very dull and grey. As it turned out when I downloaded them I was right, no good shots :0) but here are a few anyway, I had a fiddle with one set.

fat and frumpy
If I wasn't so broke and unable to spend too much on gas, I would love to get out of Dunedin and get some shots from up or down the coast, but as life dictates.. we are at St Clair again :0) So today at noon there were some big fat sets coming through, as wide as Gilbert Grapes' mum's rear end... and the peaks just trickled over and fitted out. High tide tho. .. and the latte was good :0)

Snapping up the Inside
Still messy with a strong swell with 2 foot frequent sets coming through at St Clair. Three out at noon surfing the inside as the sun popped in and out. Caught some sequences, please be patient as they load the files are a littler bigger.

Good coffee at Classic Cafe
oh yes, I do love my Latte by the seaside.. ;0) always such a nice treat to go indoors after standing in the chilling wind etc for ages.. and the coffee there is soo good! mmmm and you get to sit comfortably behind glass right out in the 'wave zone' and watch the surfers.. on the right day ( more often than not) you can look right down the barrel .. betcha theres nowhere in Auckland you can do that!!!!

Mr Slushy at St Clair.
Woke up this morning hoping for a whiteout outside, but only in the hills :0( .. I raced down with my camera early after I received a text that some guys had driven down to check out the surf at St Clair and were using all the snow off their car bonnets and rooves to build a snowman, and intended to surf it. By the time I got there they had managed to get it out the back and launch it into just one wave before he unfortunately turned into a Mr Slushy. I was so honoured to have caught that moment.

Kilda packs a punch
St Kilda 2pm ... The front is on its way through.. bitterly cold outside, St Kilda was bare, until three pushed their way out past the white wash and caught some raunchy rights which broke straight on to the inside sandbanks.
