Had a great morning taking photos of a settlement south of me for a project, and while waiting to be picked up I did a bit of a study of the bird wildlife in the area. The lighting was superb..

more of the Cold Water Classic photos up tomorrow lunchtime.. been busy working today, and doing a new surfboard artwork the last few evenings, hope you're all keeping warm and bolted to the ground. If by any chance someone comes across or hears of a silver scooter (motorbike) cover blown into a back yard in waldronville, its ours. or it could be in Oamaru by now...?

Maybe its LOST.. hmm speaking of which, final of this series of LOST wed night, I have been trying in vain to follow it and when I think I've got it, then theres a curve ball.. I think the island gets zapped and time shifts again (thanks to the metal in the orchids underground teleporter room, wish i had one of those, the trip to Kaiks would have been a bit quicker)anyway, the helicopter makes it to the boat, but its about to explode and preg Sun jumps on to helicopter before it blows.. helicopter crash lands in sea and thats where they are rescued? reason why its said there were only 6 .. hmm .. the rest are still on the Island somewhere else and jack has to get back to put the cork on the genie bottle so the black smoke doesn't kill all the polar bears, Dharma backwards is amrahd which means 'all marooned rats are hopeless dancers'.
I hear that some big waves have taken out another hunk of Middles and the diggers and trucks have been working round the clock to build sandcastles on the shoreline. The Hotel is making some big progress,hasn't been inundated by the sea from the ground up, so that's good news.

Cold Water Classic 08 - Day 1 part 1

The majestic seaward Kaikouras were capped with snow, which lent a chill to the air for the whole weekend, but a brillaint blue sky for the first 2 days kept the temps over freezing. This is the Kaikoura Boardriders' Cold Water Classic.

this is only half of the photos that I have for day 1, so there will be a second post coming in the next day. I wish I cold write more, but I have so much work on, that I haven't stopped since I got back from Kaiks.

Team Dunnos - the trip up

Just some of the Dunnos team who travelled up in three cars together. Here we stopped in Timaru at the skate park.

Below, Andy going incognito with the pizza base from lunch ( note he has a seatbelt on) and right as we were pulling in to a petrol station in Christchurch he leaneed out the window to call Jonos car into the station too, relaxing the belt off his shoulder to do so, immediately we were boxed in by a police car and Andy was accused of not wearing his seatbelt, and promptly given a $150 ticket. Nothing any of us could say made any difference, even the offer of photographic evidence.

Finally got to Kaiks at about 5pm and booked in to the Backpackers, then shot off to check Meatworks. Two pics below, last thing at night and first thing in the morning the first day of the 3 day comp.

6am get up for a 7am start at Meatworks, A stunning sunrise greeted us, and after a slight delay the comp was underway. Above, dawn at Meatworks with the judges tents semi erected.

Jordan had a run of bad luck with his board snapping a fin within ten mins in the water, later in the comp after changing to twin fins, he snapped one of those too, and had to borrow a board for the rest of the weekend, which wasn't much bigger than his shoe size.
