January 2007 - the month that was

St Clair this morning..

Yet another phenomenal cloudy day.. but with some large sets pushing through at St Clair this morning, now at 3.30pm its raining hard, and likely to be set in for at least a day of so.

Anyone else getting sick of this weather? bit of a trek this avo, which included a flat tyre, but a few shots of a crowded break somewhere.

just a bit of a retro over the last year.. since I havent been out taking pics for the last three/four days..

the comet photos

Comet McNaught Photos : clearish skies tonight finally, so took a drive to tunnel beach road (everybody else did too) to set up and get some shots of the comet, came into view at about 10.20pm, and I stayed till I froze at 11.30pm, got some shots, but struggled with the camera exposure and 'getting it right' have to read the manual I think to try and get them clearer tomorrow night if the clouds stay away.

St Kilda II

Part two.. just a few extras from yesterday.

today was a welcome day off for me.. had a baking afternoon, two batches of scones (cheese and date) ANZAC bikkies, and made a yummy steak and kidney pie with homemade from scratch flakey pastry.. what an experience making pastry that way 16 layers of pastry between butter.
and it tasted good.

St Kilda

Had to pop out later this avo to drop off a DVD I made for a friend, so decided at the same time to pack all my camera gear and take it all for a test drive at St Kilda... see if I could sort out what was happening with my lens ..

so after three hours and more fiddling, trying to master manual focus .. and get some brightness under the grey-overcast skies ( we seem to be having alot of those so far this summer) had a totally satisfying relaxing session .. and also got some shots:
