Caity took the photo of the Stop sign below. And then just another arvo at St Clair.

Below, a rainbow behind White Island, and next to it, the same photo.. but zoomed in (using my 100-400 lens) you can even see each bird on the Island!! Shows too how much resolution I chop the phots down to get on the web.

Gorgeous Winter Morning

Weather held just long enough for a short photo & film session, then a quick surf, the sun disappeared when I got out of the water, the wind got up on the drive home, then 1 min after I walked in the door the rain started. Now all nice and cosy working in my cave doing this, then some film editing from the last few days with Caitlin who got some good footage at blackhead yesterday, so she's going to start on a project of her own.. watch this space.

In the Box

Been working the last few days.. and doing another revamp on my computer which involves it being taken off the internet permanently so its just a film and photo editing machine.
Using another one which is a bit slow, but does a good job.
Later this avo for the last week day of the school hollidays went for a surf down the line with Caity and then we went to Blackhead and she filmed and I took some photos..

Five Days Sand progress

A mix of progress with the emergency sand dune rescue. Where trucks have been working around the clock bringing sand in from a quarry at Blackhead, and also sand dredged up from the Otago Harbour.
below: the first few days 5th July

Below: 7th July progress.

Above: Sand being stockpiled at Forbury Park Raceway, which is conveniently justy opposite the entrance to 'Tennis Courts' track that leads to Two Thrids/Middles beach.
Below: Co-ordination of truck movements to and from this entrance.

...and the surf goes on...

The 10th July 2007 progress below

Local Major erosion is not just limited to the stretch of sand between St Clair and St Kilda, there is also threatening erosion of the sand dunes at Ocean View beach a bit further south, I hope the council is aware there needs to be attention there too soon.
